Parking Lot Design

Modern design requirements of parking lots in terms of conservation are more strict than buildings designs.  It is required that your new parking facility treat runoff in several ways.  The parking lot design should reduce contaminants such as oil from entering the ground water supply.  At the same time, the parking lot should also recharge the subsurface ground water with clean water, much like the preexisting land did.

If there is extra land to spare a detention/retention pond, rain garden, infiltration trench, or other technology can be built to minimize this increase in runoff/decrease in ground water recharge.  For a site with limited space however,  inovative technologies, such as Cul-Tech Chambers, can be used under the parking lot to both retain excess runoff water, and to recharge the subsurface ground water.  The only restriction to detention/retention systems under the proposed parking lot are ground water separation and ground water mounding,
