Old Westborough Rd. House Addition, Grafton

In Order to get a building permit to put an addition on this historic mansion in Grafton, a site plan (plot plan) was required.  For this particular project we did a survey of the remains of the New England stonewall that defined the property lines, the road bounds that defined the roadway, and located all the structures on the lot above and below ground.  The proposed addition was in the vicinity of the septic system so we had to dig up and locate components of the system to confirm there was adequate separation.  The survey and plan were completed in a few days and the new addition was built promptly.  The contractor really did a nice job blending the old and the new.  It is hard to notice any difference from the original house and the addition.

Upon completing the plan we suggested to the owner it would be a good time to to set any missing property corners because we had already surveyed and established coordinates for those points.  We set the 6 remaining property corners with iron rods or drill holes in boulders.  Upon completion of the work we performed an asbuilt plot plan of the addition which was required by the building inspector in order for them to get an occupancy permit for the addition.
