ATS Equipment Rental, Auburn, MA
This site contains a rental office, warehouse, equipment repair area, equipment washing area, customer parking, equipment display area, and an equipment fueling station. The former site was owned, occupied and managed by Murry Construction in Auburn.
This site posed several design challenges which included a rather steep topography, a proposed high percentage lot coverage, indoor floor drains, existing buried fuel tanks, a proposed on site vehicle wash area and a fueling station. It is also located on the eastbound lane of highly traveled MA State Route 20. In addition the site was in the Auburn aquifer protection overlay district and just uphill from a large wetland.
In order to solve the topography issue we designed a large retaining wall on the lower end of the site and filled the land up to it. The buried fuel tanks were removed and a special containment area was designed and built to capture any possible fuel spill in the area of the fueling station. A large oil/gas separator was designed and installed in the ground in front of the building to clean the water coming from the floor drains, and an underground storm water management stormceptor was designed and installed to clean the water coming off of the parking lot. In addition a roof was designed over the vehicle wash area and a containment wall was designed and constructed to handle all of the water used in the vehicle cleaning area.
Storm water management required the infiltration of the roof runoff. Unfortunately the old metal roof was of a material that required that the water coming off of the roof be cleaned before it could be infiltrated into the ground. So we designed an underground system to clean that roof runoff.
Once the project was designed we helped to apply for and obtain all of the necessary permits form the Planning Board, the Conservatin Commission, the Board of Health, the Sewer, Water and Fire Departments and the Building Inspector.
